Edgar Allan Poe

This was an exercise using typography to create a recognizable portrait of a famous individual using passages from their works.

I felt that working in greyscale and only using text (no underlying shapes or outlines), best reflected the work Poe was known for. This presented challenges in capturing his unique look and deciding what facial features to include to make his portrait recognizable. As a compliment for this color palette I used script fonts throughout. I feel they give the proper voice to the image and his works.
